The deal, being announced today, will merge Incited with AEG Productions to create AEG Digital Media. The sports and entertainment presenter is positioing the new unit as a “production powerhouse” with global “end-to-end broadcast and webcast capabilities.” AEG Productions is only nine months old, and was involved with producing The Michael Jackson Tribute for Staples Center, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and Fight Night Club, it says. The group has a $25 million production studio in downtown LA.

AEG Acquires Streaming Media Firm Incited Media

AEG has acquired streaming media management and production firm Incited Media as part of an effort to expand its services into the broadband Internet and mobile content space.

The company will merge Incited Media into its AEG Productions division, creating a new entity called AEG Digital Media. Michael Goldfine, formerly president of AEG Productions, will run the unit, with Incited Media executives Joe Einstein, Ben Rolling and John Petrocelli will all remain with the new unit in various capacities.

Incited Media to be combined into new unit

Entertainment and sports presenter AEG has paid an undisclosed sum to acquire Incited Media, a company known for its live webcasting of such major events as the Olympics, the Democratic National Convention and Live Earth.

AEG, which owns Staples Center in Los Angeles and similar facilities nationwide, has combined its AEG Prods. with Incited to create AEG Digital Media, being run by Michael Goldfine.

“I could have built these capabilities on my own or acquired the best in the business,” said Goldfine, an AEG senior vp who now also carries the title of president of AEG Digital Media.

New Offshoot Puts AEG at Heart of Digital-Media Landscape

Sports fans want their video content on multiple screens beyond their televisions, and AEG Worldwide has formed a division to evolve in lock-step with that multiscreen market. AEG Digital Media is the newest AEG subsidiary, a multiplatform, multimedia production company that merges AEG Productions with Webcast company Incited Media. The new entity will offer digital-media services for distribution across television, mobile, and broadband platforms — with a particular emphasis on sports.
