AEG Digital Media helped ensure the successful live streaming of the 2010 AMGEN Tour of California, held May 16-23
AEG Digital Media provided the end-to-end digital production of the entire live event, including creative, video capture, encoding services, and distribution. The event was streamed live over Akamai’s global distribution network, and the combination of these technologies reliably delivered a rich media experience, ensured superior viewing quality, and guaranteed instant scalability, allowing viewers to experience the race from the cyclists’ perspective.
Along with the live stream of the event, viewers also had use of a highly interactive Tour Tracker created with Adobe Flash Builder® and Adobe LifeCycle® Data Services ES. The application combined two live video streams and a number of interactive features, including picture-in-picture video, real-time data streams, photos, audio commentary from the event, and the ability for users to chat live with other fans.
The event was a great success, with an average view time of over 40 minutes, and more than 200 terabytes of information streamed daily.
