The interactive MC player, used for the first time at the 54th GRAMMYs, polls viewers about content and related interests during events
LOS ANGELES – March 1, 2012 – AEG Digital Media, the leading provider of complete webcast management for live streaming events and online video, announced the release of its latest innovation, the MC, which vastly increases viewer engagement and ad impressions, leading to more revenue opportunities for advertisers.
The MC is a new viewer polling application that allows webcasters and advertisers to poll viewers about content and their related interests and preferences during an event. Questions are posed in real-time and can appear inside on-screen ads, increasing viewer engagement and interaction with the event sponsors. Like any good master of ceremonies that can think on their feet, interacting with and captivating an audience, the MC can transform a good event into a great event.
This year, AEG Digital Media partnered with The Recording Academy for the third consecutive year to live stream the GRAMMY Live webcast. The MC was implemented for the first time ever at the 54th GRAMMYs, which turned out to be television’s most social event—generating 13 million social media comments. The MC was the app behind GRAMMY Live, the interactive, real-time experience that integrated second screen, social and mobile components into a three-day webcast that gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at exclusive content including GRAMMY events, parties, and red carpet interviews. GRAMMY Live attracted more viewers than ever this year, bringing in 1 million unique viewers across the web, iPhone and iPad.
“We are proud again to work with AEG Digital Media,” said Peter Anton, VP of Digital Media at The Recording Academy and executive producer of GRAMMY Live. “Their arsenal of digital media products is second to none and is helping us continually provide the expanding audience a more engaging, multi-faceted web video viewing experience.”
The app further enhances viewing times and increases audience interactivity as viewers answer trivia questions, participate in polls, and see interesting stats and announcements that transform fans from event spectators to participants. The MC expands on AEG Digital Media’s product suite, which combines an enhanced, multi-angle live media player and social media aggregation tool.
“Our product suite’s components collectively extend viewing times for live-streamed events, with consumers, webcasters and advertisers benefiting from more engaging interaction,” said John Petrocelli, vice president of sales and business development for AEG Digital Media. “Our customers have already deployed the Tremolo Player and the Hawk with impressive results, upon which MC builds. MC is the clear complement to our other products and allows us to deliver an unmatched service to our customers and advertisers.”
